I remember seeing charts like that in Sound Practices. They were copies of Altec spec sheets. I can probably find the issue this afternoon.

That chart was created by Jim Dickinson. It was written for an unpublished article on rebuild VOTT systems.

Somehow, it made it onto the Internet.

Jim & I have worked on a revision, something that might be nice to complete while he's recovering from his motorcycle accident.

Was just checking through some old file cabinets and came across a chart that describes the differences between all the different 288, 291, 299 and 515 Altec drivers. There's nothing on the sheet that shows it came off the computer. Don't remember where I got it, but it's obviously a copy and the print is somewhat hard to read.

Anyone know of a chart like this? There are 7 columns and a picture on the far left of each driver. Shows the years it was used, the different impedances that were available, recommended replacement diaphragms and #'s, what system they were used in (A1, A2, etc....) and the author's comments that explain everything else.

    It shows the entire 288 family: 288, 288B, C, D, E, G, H, K, and L. There is some info about 291-16A and 299A drivers too.......and info about five different 515 drivers: 515, 515B, 515C, 515E, and 515G.

    Thanks.............

    This is a re-creation of Jim's chart. The last picture is NOT a 299 - it's a 288-G series.

On that chart you recommend against using the 515-8g in a vented cabinet.
I stuck mine in a Santana Cabinet and was going to port it. What problems am I going to have?
    Thanks
    Harry
